ever since i got my new acer with windows 8 i keep losing the internet we have 2 other computers & this does not happen to then only my laptop. can anyone help please.

Hi Maree,

Please download the latest wireless driver from Acer Support Website.

Oncew downloaded please remove any old driver/application from the control panel> Programs and features.

Then sun installation of the new driver/application you download from the site.

Once that's done go into power setting, advanced power settings, wireless adapter settings, and change all of them to maximum performance. It wont affect the battery. It fixed my problems. The computer was putting the wireless adapter to sleep. Look here for answer

Go into your power settings by right clicking the batter icon by your time and date from the desktop. Right click and select power options. Click on change plan settings by by power saver. Click on change advanced power settings. Click the plus next to wireless adapter settings, and click the plus next to power saving mode. Next change everything to maximum performance. That should solve your issue. Also do the above steps for the balanced profile and any other profile you have. The computer is putting the wireless adapter to sleep. I would also suggest you uninstall the driver for the atheros wifi adapter from programs and settings under the control panel. Restart the computer. Reinstall the updated drivers you download from acers drivers page. Then do the above. Should fix your problem. It fixed mine!!!

please excuse my stupidity but i'm trying to follow these instructions as im experiencing the same problem but which wireless driver do i install? 2 have appeared in the list

Wireless LAN	Atheros	Wireless LAN Driver	10.0.0.225	226.3 MB	2013/03/01	Download
Wireless LAN	Intel	Wireless LAN Driver	15.5.0.42	143.4 MB	2012/09/25	Download

i'm guessing its the latest one but i just need to be sure i'm downloading the right thing

The correct one should be Atheros Wireless LAN Driver 10.0.0.225, the latest one. However, mind that this will not solve your problem. Nothing will. You will keep getting disconnected, not all the time but frequently. I am having this problem since I bought the laptop in March 2013 and the problem is still there - I gave up. I tried about every suggestion in this and other threads with no sucess. Acer should be ashamed of this, but if you call, they will just tell you it´s a simple driver problem. It is clear it is much more serious than that. Do yourself a favor and return the laptop if you can. Otherwise, my advice is not to buy anything from Acer ever again.

Exact same issue here, keep having to reset adapter to get online, it drops out or is horribly slow.

Acer, where is the fix? this is not some isolated incident.
