Open a DOS box or use the RUN box under START and enter SLUI 4. Follow the instructions. I would try the automated way first.

Just had that happen with a MSDN key I had just gotten. The voice recognition is not great - just use the keypad to enter lotsa digits.

Hello,

I am new in this community and have a problem with Windows 7 on my computer. I am getting a popup message saying that my window version might not be genuine and proposing me to by a genuine version. I have a window product key which came with my Acer but I am having all kind of error messages.

Meanwhile I can't do any Window update on my computer and I don't think I have SP1 installed.

Anyone had a similar problem with windows?

Would appreciate any feedback or hint.

Thanks

Camille

Camille,

Generally, something on Microsofts validation has flaged your copy of Windows as not genuine. Normally this is due to hardware changes (HDDs are the big one) or multiple reloads. If you can try to validate again, there is usually a number provided for you to contact MIcrosoft directly, and they tout that it usually takes less than 6 minutes to get back up and running. Hope this helps.
