when typing the computer starts to studder; i.e., takes approximately 2 seconds for the computer to accept a letter, or when playing a game, it stalls for a couple of seconds; any suggestions?

Hi haircolor!

It sounds like your computer is either running too many things in the background or it may just need a bit of a clean-up.

Install & run Ccleaner, this program is great for removing "junk" that Windows gathers over time. Next run a disk defrag. This can take quite a while to run. This can be found by going to COMPUTER, right click your C: drive, select Properties then click on the Tools tab. Finally click the Defragment Now button.

If this makes little or no difference, we'll need to see what programs are running (by using Task Manager). Checking your installed programs list for old/unused programs to uninstall will help too.

It will also be worth running a full scan of your anti virus software, and using Malwarebytes to check for any nasties that may be installed on your machine!!

If your computer is an older model, it may need extra RAM to smooth things along....

Finally, if all else fails, a complete re-install of Windows should help greatly. Just remember to back up all your documents etc, because this will erase them, but your PC should be as new!
